Wineyards and tours
The typical local table wine is Quercy rouge, based on the Malbec grape). Wine tasting tours are easily planned, within 1-2 hrs drive you can reach the Cahors, Gaillac (the perfect spot for natural wine lovers) and Bordeaux wine areas.
In the local farmers’ food markets you will find delicious and fresh products. Regional specialities are foie gras, truffles, goat cheese, duck and lamb. Nearby farms are great to visit for organic food products and wine.
The local restaurant “Table du Cardinal” serves excellent food with menus ranging from € 25 to € 35. Or try “Pre de Montpezat” which is an informal restaurant just on the outskirts of Montpezat. Cahors is half an hour away and boasts gourmet restaurants and cafes. The area is a mekka for food and wine lovers.
The area around Montpezat is perfect for race biking and mountain biking. Various running routes of 5-15 km in distance are mapped out so you can exercise in the nice hilly landscape. Great fun!
The Quercy is an exceptionally beautiful region of France for the horseback riding enthusiast to enjoy. Several horseback riding farms are reachable within 20-30 kms of Le Barry
In nearby St. Antonin Noble Val it is possible to rent canoes and enjoy a three hour paddle down the l’Aveyron river. Small waterfalls adds to the fun!
Go for a walk in the village, visit the beautiful 13th century church, and pass through narrow streets and squares with old “Quercy blanc stone” houses. Designated hiking routes range from 3 to 12 kms. The trails are clearly marked through fields and forests of the surrounding area.
Tree-top adventure trail “Cap Nature” near Cahors is a great experience for kids and for adults. Exciting challenges from 3 to 25 meters above the ground. A unique and fun exercise!
Sitting down with friends at the bar is part of the local life-style. At Bar de Quercy the café creme is served by Marc and Marie – and they have Stella Artois and Leffe Blonde on tap.
